Lyrics

Family Song
Written By Jason Moon

There’s no place that I’d rather be than the place that I call home.
As long as I got these walking shoes, lord I’ll be condemned to roam.
But all roads meet up somewhere lord.
And somewhere never ends.
So no matter how far I spread my wings, I’ll be flying home again.
No matter how far I spread my wings, I’ll be coming home again.

Some folks living in a fancy house, some smoking fat cigars.
Some folks living in the lap of luxury, some driving fancy cars.
But I was raised on peanut butter,
and good ole’ mac and cheese.
And I always learned to be real polite, saying thank you and please.
Yea, I was taught to be real polite, saying thank you and please.

My mother she was a beautiful woman, got married at seventeen.
Don’t talk with you mouth full child, and keep your room clean.
She always kept a good mixture,
of discipline and love,
She taught us to be kind to others and have faith in the lord above.
She taught us to be kind to others and have faith in the lord above.

My father he sweat away half of his life for my sister, my brother, and me.
My father he gave away half of his life to raise a family.
He worked his fingers to the bone,
with the concrete beneath his feat.
But we always had a ruff over our heads and something warm to eat.
Yea, we always had a ruff over our heads and something warm to eat.

When I grew older I started a family of my own.
I learned it takes more than a welcome mat, to make a house a home.
But I take life’s little lessons lord,
And I learn them day by day.
And the more I talk about it well the less I have to say.
And the more I talk about it well…

Now that I’ve grown older, I guess it’s plain to see.
I got my own little swing set hanging from this family tree.
But with out a strong foundation,
I wouldn’t be who I am.
So I count my blessings every day, said “praise the lord, amen.”
Yes I count my blessings every day, said “praise the lord, amen.”
